Search "plumber near me" and look at what Google shows you. Three businesses in a box with stars, hours, photos, and a Call button. That box is decided by Google Business Profiles, not websites. The website comes later, if the person even scrolls.
So the profile is the first impression, the window display, the guy at the door. And almost every business we look at set it up once, years ago, and never opened it again. Half the categories are blank. The hours are from before the last holiday. The photos are a logo and a parking lot. The last post was 2022. Three reviews, one of them angry, none of them answered.
To a customer, that profile says "nobody's home." To Google, it says "don't recommend this one." You're not losing to better businesses. You're losing to businesses that filled in the form.
We found this out the hard way, from a reputation client whose Google presence was hammering them before a single visitor reached the site. Fixing the profile was the whole turnaround. It's now one leg of the Triple Foundation, the three things we fix before we spend a dollar of yours on traffic.

Reviews and Responses
Here's how a stranger reads your profile: stars first, then the most recent review, then whether anyone from the business answered it. That's the entire decision, made in about four seconds, before they've seen a page of your website.
The numbers are not subtle. Harvard Business School found a one-star rating increase produces 5 to 9 percent more revenue for independent businesses, and Womply's study of 200,000 small businesses found that the three out of four who never respond to reviews earn 42 percent less than the ones who answer even a fifth of them. Silence is the expensive option.
So reviews aren't a nice-to-have we bolt on. They're built into every profile we run:
When a reputation has already gone sideways, that's a bigger job, and it's what our Reputation Management service exists for. For everyone else, the review work above is simply part of keeping the profile healthy.
Across the clients we've done this for, an optimized profile has produced 200 to 500 percent more phone calls, big jumps in direction requests, and 100 to 300 percent more engagement on the profile itself. Same business, same location, same Google. The only thing that changed is that somebody finally filled in the storefront.
Three plans, all published. Every one includes a $99 one-time setup, and review management is built into every one of them. No "call for quote" BS.
Additional locations add 60 percent per location. Google Business Profile work is also included in every Conversion Science engagement and in the SEO Comprehensive and Enterprise plans. Just want the review lane? That's review management, priced on its own page.
Either way it starts the same place: a free audit that shows you what your profile looks like to a stranger and what your competitors' profiles have that yours doesn't.
Completing and correcting every field Google uses to rank a local business (categories, services, hours, service area, attributes, description), adding real photos and regular posts, seeding questions and answers, and managing reviews: generating new ones, answering every one, and contesting fakes. Run properly, it's the difference between showing up in the map pack and not.
Yes, on every profile we run. A steady flow of new reviews, a reply to every review within days, and contesting fake or unfair ones. For a reputation that's already gone sideways, our Reputation Management service handles the bigger cleanup.
Usually because the profile is incomplete, inactive, or has weak review signals compared to the businesses that do show up. Google's local results reward complete information, recent activity, and reviews that get answered. Distance matters too, but most businesses lose on the first three.
Three published plans: Storefront at $199 a month, Map Pack at $549, and Main Attraction at $899, each with a $99 one-time setup and review management built in. Additional locations add 60 percent each. Google Business Profile work is also included in every Conversion Science engagement and in the SEO Comprehensive and Enterprise plans.
Foundation fixes (completing fields, photos, posts, review responses) typically start moving calls and direction requests within weeks. Across our clients the results have run 200 to 500 percent more phone calls and 100 to 300 percent more profile engagement.
